"Welcome To Our Updates"

4th Quarter 2013 UPDATES

We trust that, as you read our newsletter, you will be blessed. As a result of reading it we trust you will pray for us and our staff at New Beginnings.

The After School Reading Classes started back Monday, September 23. Nine children are in the Monday/Wednesday class and six students have registered so far for the Tuesday/Thursday class. All of these children were in the summer school program. Their mothers, who attended the Celebrate Mothers Day and signed them up early there, were anxious to see the children complete the Reading Raceway. This week was review, and it was encouraging to see their enthusiasm for and mastery of the previously completed steps. This week flyers will be distributed to the second and third grade teachers of Mt. Peto Primary School to be sent home with struggling students who were not a part of the summer program. We are aiming for 10 - 12 students in each class. Mr. Fabion Campbell, who is now a fulltime distance student in his final year at the University of West Indies will be assisting again, keeping teacher/student ratio 1:5 for maximum benefit. The goal is for ALL of these children to pass their national literacy assessment tests on the first sitting, and to victoriously live out the reading class foundational scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength.”

Do you know that you, as a believer, really do make a difference in the outcome of affairs? II Kings 3 is a good demonstration. Jehoram, the King of Israel and son of the wicked Ahab and Jezebel, was having trouble with the Moabites’ rebellion following his father’s death. He asked two other kings, the king of

Edom and Jehoshaphat, righteous king of Judah, to go with him to deal with them. Jehoram chose to go the “roundabout” way through the Wilderness of

Edom, and after marching for seven days, found himself and his retinue exhausted and without water for either their armies or their animals. Jehoram, despondent and lost, declared that the three kings had been called there by the Lord to be delivered into the hands of the enemy. BUT Jehoshaphat, not accepting that hopeless and faulty conclusion, asked, “isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here that we can inquire of the Lord by him?” Someone remembered Elisha was close by, and Jehoshaphat almost shouted, “Yes, yes, The

Word of the Lord is with him!” When the three kings approached Elisha, his response was “What do I have to do with you, Jehoram? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.” He went on to say “were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you, nor see you.” Elisha went on to bring a musician, and as he played, the anointing came and he received a word from the Lord for them that, when they obeyed it, led to both supernatural provision and victory over the enemy. Right now this world seems pretty lost and deceived, not having answers for serious problems. BUT, you, as a Christian, just like Jehoshaphat, know who to go to for answers…. You know that when you ask for wisdom, God promises to give it to you generously and without reproach. Your presence, just like

Jehoshaphat’s, makes the difference…. Friend, do not accept the hopeless or bad reports, but go forward confidently and boldly, knowing that you are in covenant relationship with the Lord God Almighty, who can and will, make heaven and earth move on your behalf!!!

Each Christmas we provide the students of the two basic schools in our community a Christmas party. We like to have ice cream & cake plus a present for every little one. For many, this is the only Christmas gift they will receive, and they look forward to it tremendously. To do this, the cost is about $400. Here is an opportunity for you to bless a child with a good time, in Jesus’ name.

Your gift needs to be to us by December 1st. Thanks.

Basic School Lunch & Tuition

What a great feeling it is to be able to help these children with their daily lunch and school tuition.

The next school term begins in January 2014, and we need to supply both food and tuition funds for two basic schools. $85.00 will supply the lunch and tuition for one child. Please make a commitment to sponsor one student.

Please send your donation in by December 20th, thanks.

You can help us with a donation, either at our web site or by mailing your donation to our stateside address above. Either way you will get a tax- deductible receipt. If in Jamaica, just give me a call for pick up, 876-361-3822
